Je mag mij gerust een nitwit noemen, maar na lang zoeken heb ik eindelijk het nummer ‘You’ van Scooter kunnen bemachtigen. En nee, niet die Scooter van ‘How much is the fish’ en andere boenkbrol … cultuurbarbaar ! :p De Scooter waar ik over praat is een groep die furore maakte in de periode dat ik het levenslicht zag. Met ‘You’ wonnen ze in 1981 de zomerhit-prijs van wat toen wschl al Radio 2 was ?! De Zomerhit-prijs betekende toen nog iets, zeker als je het vergelijkt met de zomerhits van de laatste jaren. Voor de mensen wie ‘You’ weinig zegt, zeg dan misschien es luidop het volgende refrein: “Don’t believe in number one, Don’t rely on anyone” of beluister desnoods es dit fragment (edit: site van muziekcentrum ligt blijkbaar plat). In alle geval een schitterend nummer en het verbaasde mij toen ik een tijdje geleden hoorde dat dit Vlaams was. Even verbaasd was ik vijftal jaren geleden bij de onthulling dat de nummers Zanna (voor ik wist dat het van Luc Van Acker was), Beats of Love (Nacht und Nebel), Hard Times (The Scabs) en Seven Horses in the sky (The Pebbles) ook van Vlaamse bodem kwamen. Van de schitterende Confetti’s wist ik dat (o.a. omdat ik dat bewust heb meegemaakt … This is the sound of C, this is a new style of music), maar dat we vroeger (in de jaren ’80 – want in de jaren ’90 hadden we dEUS, Channel Zero, K’s Choice, …) nog iets anders voortbrachten dan de Vlaamsche Top10, dat was mij compleet vreemd. Op zo’n momenten voel ik mij dan ook trots Vlaming te zijn … op muziekvlak 😉

Voor het overige was het een rustig weekend, was Nachtwacht weer bijzonder interessant, heb ik mij weer kostelijk geamuseerd met het “liefdesboekje” dat bij de Goed Gevoel zat, heb ik ontdekt dat ik voor mijn eigen veel te goed kook (met die paar kilotjes erbij tot gevolg), heb ik mij geergerd aan De Zevende Dag en was het WK Veldrijden ongemeen spannend en moet ik nu gaan slapen, want morgen moet ik een uur vroeger beginnen werken om ’s avonds op tijd te zijn voor een interessante activiteit waar ik bij een volgende occasie zal over berichten.
